These set of symptoms are very identifiable and are often what prompts an individual to get checked out by their physician when they occur. Some of the most classic of diabetes symptoms include polyuria, which is going to the bathroom to urinate quite often. There is also polydipsia, which is a constant thirst and polyphaga, which translated is a constant hunger or increased level of hunger for food overall.
As was previously stated, diabetes is a group of diseases. There are different forms of the disease and these include Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, congenital diabetes, steroid diabetes, monogamic diabetes and diabetes related to cystic fibrosis.
Almost all forms of diabetes can be treated successfully with insulin and have been treated with it since it became available back in 1921. Type 2 diabetes can be controlled with the help of medication in a lot of cases. Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes are both chronic in nature. There is no known cure for either of these two forms of the disease at present.
Just as there are different types of diabetes, there are different types of symptoms in addition to the classic ones mentioned. Some of the other symptoms include changes in vision, skin rashes, dehydration, fatigue, weight loss, vomiting, dry mouth, and irritability, to name a few.
The onset of diabetes symptoms can happen rapidly or very slowly or be invisible in some cases. It is the masking of these symptoms, or the fact that they seem harmless a lot of the time, that can cause diabetes to go undiagnosed in many patients. It is only through the early detection and treatment of this disease that a person can possibly avoid the complications of diabetes. Diabetes complications are often related to the eyes, feet, skin, heart, kidneys, and blood pressure.
