The Diabetes Types and Treatment

By: Delia Grace Green

Some people may call it "sugar." But, millions of people living with the disease termed as diabetes need to know the bitter realities, the negative sides, as well as the sweet steps that must be taken to live well. How can we treat diabetes? The major goal is to minimize any elevation or excessive increase of blood sugar in the body also referred to as the glucose content.

Type 1 Diabetes is treated with insulin shots or injections, exercise and proper health care, and healthy diabetic diet. Insulin injections are given with the aid of medical tools such as the syringes. Most diabetics utilize two to four injections a day depending on the extent and demands of the body and the nature of the disease.

Another way to do the insulin shot is through s therapy termed as Insulin pump. The process is an alternative to injecting insulin. The pump is a little device that contains insulin. The pump is attached to the body through a long thin tube with an attached needle, and is inserted under the skin.

The pump allows the continuous insulin flow into the bloodstream at a rate that is controllable. This method eliminates the use of injections. Another way of treating Type1 DM is the Insulin jet method. This is a process of delivering insulin without the use of a needle. This works by placing a nozzle against the skin to force a very small stream of insulin into the skin.

The insulin then travels at a maximum speed and goes through the skin and enters the blood with very high speed. Another treatment includes anti-hypertensive medications to control high blood, since type1 DM has high risk of developing chronic heart diseases. Next is Statin, such as simvastatin, to reduce the level off high cholesterol, low-dose aspirin stroke prevention, and angiotensin enzyme which normally pertains to ramipril, lisinopril, or enalapril.

Type 2 Diabetes is treated first by weight reduction, exercise, and a healthy diabetic diet as well. Diabetic pills and prescription drugs are available to cater with Type 2 DM. Metformin is a pill that is being taken during the evening, before taking the dinner. Diagnose patients tend to start their medications through this before engaging themselves with Insulin injections.

There are several tablet medications available but it is best to consult your doctors first before taking it for precautions.Gestational diabetes treatment includes eating proper balanced diet. Consult a registered dietitian to have a healthy eating plan.

The diet would focus in controlling the intake of carbohydrates and level blood sugar. Moderate but regular exercise, regular blood sugar checking, monitoring fetal growth and development, getting regular medical checkups, taking insulin shots are some of the things normally recommended to treat Diabetes in Type 2. Regular exercises with proper, and adequate diet are the basic steps in treating diabetic patients.
This is the stepping stone to at least lessen the extent of diabetes to the person's health at the same time keeping the blood sugar intact and at the moderate level. If the first step will not work in some ways due to the patient's health and coping mechanism, then the experts will resort to insulin shots.

Insulin shots would be the patients' dead end after trying to do the treatment in a simpler and safer manner. Whether the patient is diagnose to have type 1 or type 2, diet and exercise are two of the basic steps in maintaining diabetic components to the minimum. Therefore, discipline is a must and should be monitored for desirable results.
